BEST IN BASEBALL! In beating the Nationals on Sunday, the Cubs moved 30 games over .500 (80-50) for the first time since the 1984 season. Coupled with the Rays' 10-inning loss to the White Sox, the Cubs have baseball's best record (the Rays and Angels both are 79-50).
MAGIC NUMBER: With 32 games remaining, the Cubs also reduced their magic number for eliminating the Brewers in the Central Division to 28 (any combination of Cubs wins or Brewers losses equalling that number).
