Here was some of the reaction from the Cubs on Saturday's loss:

Lou Piniella: "We were expecting more. We played well during the summer. We won our Division convincingly, and we thought that we would go further into this postseason.

"But if you score 3, 2 and 1, that's six runs in three games. You do that during the regular season and you're 0-3 the same way.

"We just didn't hit, you have to score runs. We had opportunities and you have to take advantage of them. This is six games I've managed now in the postseason [with the Cubs] and we have scored just 12 runs. That doesn't get it done. If you want to win a World Series or go deep into the postseason, you have to score runs."

Alfonso Soriano: "We have the best team in the league, and we struggle in the playoffs. We did not play good, like a team. That's the reason we didn't win. "Now we go home, very disappointed because we had a very good team. Next year we stay together and have a better year. [To the fans] be patient, because we have a very good team. We're disappointed. We didn't get it done, but maybe we can farther next year. It's not the best team who wins in the playoffs, it's the team that plays better. We didn't play well at the right time.

"I'm not disappointed in my struggling, I'm disappointed in what we do in the playoffs. Because I could be struggling and we win. So I'm struggling in the postseason and we didn't win."

Derrek Lee: "It's disappointing. I feel we're a much better team than we showed. It's frustrating. We won two straight divisions and 97 games this year, so it's not the personnel. We just have to find a way to get it done in the postseason.

"You just go home and try to forget about it. What can you do now? You can't sulk about it all winter. Have to get ready and come back next year."
